京都和紙工芸社

Our Story

京都和紙工芸社について

For nearly half a century, we have created hand-dyed Yuzen Paper with original designs.
In order to propose patterns that meet our customers’ needs, we work with designers to finalize our designs. In addition to the gorgeous colors, ink painting and indigo dyeing styles as well as earth colors (colors of water, earth, and plants) are also available, allowing an infinite variety of color schemes.

手染めへのこだわり

Hand-dyeing is a very time-consuming process that involves combining several types of pigments to create each color, lining up the screen patterns, applying the colors with a squeegee (large spatula), and then letting it dry, but the end result is a truly beautiful and colorful product. The gold color in particular has a special sparkling beauty that we hope to see it used in art and hobby settings.
We can also create original patterns, so please contact us for more information.
For customers who are looking for even higher quality, we also offer dyeing handmade Washi Paper made from 100% kozo tree bark (Kozo: a plant of the Mulberry family that is the raw material of Washi Paper).
