Choju-giga
Recommended Pattern:2025.10.24
The Chōjū-jinbutsu-giga, a National Treasure kept at Kōsan-ji Temple, is one of Japan’s most famous picture scrolls, though its origins and artist remain unknown.
This Yuzen paper features humorous animals inspired by the scrolls, arranged in an ichimatsu (checkered) pattern.
We are pleased to present it with some new color variations.
Sketch of Chōjū-giga: Maki Tamaoka
Arrangement, and coloring: Toshiyuki Tamaoka
